Halloween Bats

We tried the new idea - I did the spray-painting.  Rachel and Lex did the rest.  I think they turned out cute!

Brains Anyone?

Perfect for the pre-trick or treating party!!

Rachel and I are all over this one!!  Start with a small seedless watermelon.

1 - Use a vegetable peeler to remove the green rind.
2 - Slice off the bottom to form a flat base so it will not roll.
3 - Use a toothpick to outline the squiggly furrows that look like the surface of a brain.
4 - Carve out the narrow channels along the tracings with a sharp paring knife to expose the pink watermelon below.

Looking for a new Halloween craft - LOVE these!!

1 - Paint the pumpkin black.
2 - Cut two identical eyes from white craft foam.  Use a hole punch to make the pupils.  Adhere the eyes to the pumpkin with glue dots.
3 - Cut matching pairs of ears and wings from black craft foam (wings are about six inches long).  Attach the ears by taping a toothpick to the back of each one, leaving about an inch of the toothpick exposed, then insert the toothpick into the top of the pumpkin.  Hint - Use black duct tape to hide the toothpick.
4. Tape a skewer to the back of each wing, leaving about two inches of the skewer exposed, push into the pumpkin into the sides of pumpkin.

Halloween Games

I've been looking for some new Halloween games - any ideas?  Here is what I have so far:

MUMMY WRAP - Divide group into teams of 3 to 6.  Each team has to wrap one team member from head to toe in toilet paper (leave a breathing hole).  Prize is awarded for the best "mummy" - fully covered, no holes, etc.  If the kids are older, you can put a time limit on the game to make it harder.

PING-PONG PUMPKIN TOSS - Form teams of two.  One child from each team will hold the plastic pumpkin for their team.  The kids take turns tossing the ping-pong balls into the pumpkin.  The team with the highest number of balls inside the pumpkin wins.

DOUGHNUT FUN - Suspend one doughnut for each child from a tree branch.  If you have larger groups, run the game in groups of three and then have a final contest with the winner from each group.  Each child has to hold their hands behind their backs.  The winner is the person who finishes eating the doughnut first - remember, no hands!!
